FGE NexantECA's Chairman Emeritus recognised for decades of contribution to the understanding and development of global oil and gas markets.

LONDON, 12 October 2026 – FGE NexantECA is proud to announce that its Chairman Emeritus, Dr Fereidun Fesharaki, has received the Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 at the Aramco Trading New Silk Road CEO of the Year Awards. The ceremony was held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, on 5 October 2026. 

The award recognises Dr Fesharaki’s exceptional contribution, over several decades, to the understanding and development of global oil and gas markets. It was presented under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. H.H. Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Ports Authority, was also in attendance. 

Dr Fesharaki is widely regarded as one of the energy industry’s most respected authorities, particularly on Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Over a distinguished career, his work has deepened understanding of the evolving energy relationship between the two regions. His insight has influenced generations of industry leaders, policymakers and market participants. 

Founder of FGE, Dr Fesharaki has been at the forefront of energy market research since the early 1980s, including more than three decades leading the energy programme at the East-West Center. A former President of the International Association for Energy Economics, he has advised governments and industry worldwide. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Gulf Mercantile Exchange and is a member of the US National Petroleum Council.

The Aramco Trading New Silk Road CEO of the Year Awards were established in 2017 as a partnership between Aramco Trading, Gulf Intelligence and the Government of Fujairah. Now in their ninth year, the awards celebrate leaders across trading, refining, storage, ports and shipping, and pricing and intelligence. Each honouree has contributed to the development of the East of Suez energy corridor, which connects the Middle East with Asia, Africa and the wider Global South. It is especially fitting that this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award should be presented to someone whose career has done so much to illuminate that corridor and help shape its course.
