Stormy Seas: The Complications of Shifting into a Low-Sulphur World Webinar

FGE is delighted to host a complimentary webinar introducing our IMO services, and exploring the implications the upcoming IMO 2020 legislation will have on the refining and shipping sectors.

The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) decision to implement a reduction in the bunker sulphur emissions in 2020 is one of the biggest changes that the shipping and refining industry has ever gone through. Trying to navigate through the complexity of shifting fuel specifications, volatile bunker pricing and a seismic change in supply and demand fundamentals has become increasingly difficult.

In this webinar, we aim to grapple with the painful road to implementation from all angles.

Talking points include:

  • Introduction to FGE's IMO services
  • The road to implementation
    • The roadmap for the implementation of IMO 2020 regulation;
    • The IMO and individual member's enforcement;
    • Have we been here before?
  • Refiners response and the impact on the rest of the barrel
    • Are refiners finally reacting? The IMO 2020 refining investment landscape;
    • The complications of producing a BFO 0.5%S! What will it look like?
    • Pricing bunker fuels in a low-sulphur world and the wider impact of IMO 2020 in the refining complex.
  • The shipping industry makes a painful leap forward
    • What are ports doing to get ready for IMO 2020 – what does the bunkering ecosystem look like in 2020?
    • Making money from the “scrubber trade” and highlighting the ongoing risks for key segments of the shipping market;
    • Finding the right bunkering solution in a complex world – a look at the diminishing economics of scrubbers in the 2020s and the next best alternatives.
